applying for your race license and number……

Cape Town (Killarney), Rok and ROTAX karting falls under the jurisdiction of the MSA (Motorsport South Africa) so you will be need an MSA Race license in order to compete in any of the WPMC Regional events at Killarney or National events around SA whether you are a Rotax or Rok competitor.

To get racing at WPMC Karting, there are three main requirements that you need to fulfil (after you have joined WPMC and paid your pit and practice fees)…. you need a racing license, a racing number and then you need to fully understand the rules you or your child will race under.

Step 1 is to get your MSA license to race in Cape Town and Nationally….
If you are only racing in the WPMC Championship races you will need a REGIONAL license. If you plan to race any of the Rok or Rotax Nationals you will need a NATIONAL License. (One event National upgrade licenses are available if you only plan to do one or two).

Take a look at this downloadable guide on how to do it HERE
Visit www.msaonline.co.za and complete the license registration (be sure to use the ID number and details of the actual competitor requiring a license).
Fill in all of your details, pay online or by EFT and then simply download your racing license!

Step 2 is to get your allocated racing number
For ROK classes….

Download the race number application form here… EXCEL Format PDF Format
Print out a copy and fill in all of the driver’s details. (It is essential to have 3 different options of your preferred number as many are already taken).

Send the completed race number application form along with a copy of your newly issued license to Lizelle at MSA on this email address: lizelle@motorsport.co.za (Lizelle is our Western Cape MSA representative and extremely helpful if you have any problems so please feel free to drop her a line with any queries you may have).

For Rotax Classes either regional or National you will need to register your number by filling in all of your details HERE.

Step 3 is to make sure you and your driver understand the rules….
Rules are an extremely important part of racing and are not only there to ensure fair and competitive racing, but also to ensure the safety of our drivers, marshals and spectators. To make sure you stay on the right side of the law, download them, read them and understand them. Ignorance is no defence! (and always check you have the latest versions as they are updated often. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure you know your rules).

You can find the WPMC and National ROK and ROTAX sporting and technical rules HERE
